A timeless ode to love, the Taj Mahal was raised by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth. At its heart, the central sanctuary is crowned by a graceful bulbous dome, embraced by four delicate cupolas.
